“Wrunner?”

Yep.  You read it right.  There’s no great mystery in it.  It’s just basic linguistic algebra.  Here’s the proof:

Solving for WHY?:

WRUNNER = WHY?

If you remember how square roots work, you know that a square root is merely something multiplied by itself.  Applying this framework to our problem:

WRUNNER = WHY?

And given the square root of WHY? is always BECAUSE, we arrive at:

MYSELF (THE WRITER) x MYSELF (THE RUNNER) = BECAUSE

And there you have it.  The writer me combines with the runner me to form the wrunner.  Because.

See?  Simple.

Just for fun, let me also document the multidisciplinary value of linguistic algebra with this secondary proof:

WRUNNER = WHY?

WRUNNER = WHY?

Yes.  Given HY = HIGH (it goes without saying traditional spelling rules have no place in algebra).

Just like that, we have proven the existence of the much-debated phenomenon called “runner’s high.”  No science necessary.  I’m ahead of my time, really.  I expect a call from the Dean’s Office at Yale any moment.

Now you can say you knew me when.

And now you know, if you haven’t arrived here from my running blog, why I call myself a “wrunner.”  Feel free to head that way if wrunning’s your speed, too.  Regular runners also welcome.

And of course, you can all explore the roost anytime.
